Embrace rejuvenation at this gorgeous property

Seeking rest and run in Udaipur? Stay at ‘The Sierra – By the Lake’.

What: Boutique Hotel
Where: Udaipur, India
Feel: Modern, Calm, Luxurious

Nestled in a quiet neighbourhood in the old city, Sierra is a gorgeous boutique hotel that captures the essence of this royal place. The attention to detail in the decor immediately set the scene—each room a perfect blend of traditional Rajasthani artistry and modern luxury.

We stayed at two different rooms – Elite Room with Private Balcony and Premium Suite with Bathtub.

Elite Room spilled vibrant colors onto warm ones – green, blue, pink, maroon nudging blue, brown, beige.  The hornbill art on the walls stole our hearts and was the sole reason to book this room! 😊 Well, almost. The balcony is just about right for two people to sit and savor their morning coffee in tranquil airs. The bed, though, was a tad too soft; wouldn’t recommend it to people with back issues.

The Premium Suite, on the other hand, was bigger, sauve and cozy, with its four-poster bed and bathtub being the highlights. It had two spacious wardrobes, perfect for that large group of even 4, to chill and not worry about making a mess. We found nibbles in this room – cookies to be precise. Needless to say, we gobbled them good.

A beautiful, calming view of the majestic Aravalis from the on-site restaurant at the fourth floor cajoled us to quietude (which is quite a thing for two besties who love to yap!). The spread was good – parantha, puri, idli, poha with sabjis (chole, dum aloo, et al) and chutneys were fun.  You can also find a dash of hash browns and baked beans, cornflakes and breads. But what we became a fan of was the cheese omelette! Take my word – try it whenever you are there.

The staff were warm and attentive, ensuring that every need was met with a smile. Housekeeping, in particular, was impeccable. There was an accidental spillage of food oils on one of our bags and they fixed it within an hour. The team’s recommendations for local experiences further enriched our stay.

The access road to the property was a tad rickety which can be a bit of a jostle when taking an auto. Uber works fine and we did most of our day travel, to-and-fro, via auto. Many notable places like Lake Pichola, City Palace, Jagdish Temple and Ambrai Ghat are within 10 minutes ride. For some evening outings though, we opted for cabs.

We also used the hotel’s services for booking our cab from Udaipur to Jodhpur (a good 250 kms) and had a smooth ride all the way.

As a lover of walks, I found the quiet roads zig-zagging this property perfect. Our October tryst meant I found a sunny morning awaiting me every day, with a few drops of chill set in to make the walk invigorating.

If you’re seeking an intimate and immersive experience in Udaipur, this boutique hotel is a wonderful place to stay. Unwind in style and make memories.
